Lack of Car Maintenance
Every year, numerous kinds of cars are involved in accidents. While poor weather often plays a role in accidents and other factors like alcohol may also play a part, too much of the time accidents are caused by cars that have been made unsafe by their careless drivers. The cars don’t start out unsafe but rather are made that way.
The first way that a car can be made unsafe by a careless driver is through worn out brakes. Brakes are designed to stop cars under any circumstance. To do this, they use brake pads. Unfortunately, the brake pads can wear out. Many drivers do not realize this has become a problem on their car until they have worn the pads down to nothing. In fortunate situations, this problem is found during an inspection of some sort. In unlucky ones, the brakes are found to be a problem only after an accident has already occurred.
Worn out tires can also be very problematic and may result in accidents. When the tread of a tire gets too low, the tire is unable to grip the road properly. When the tire cannot grip the road, it is unable to follow the directions of the driver as well as a tire that really hugs the road. This can cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle, particularly in inclement weather, and end up in an accident.
Another potential problem is a broken windshield. A windshield with cracks and small holes in it is quite dangerous because of the distortion it causes to the image outside of the car. In other cases, a crack or chips may prevent the driver from fully seeing outside of the car causing him or her to be less aware of the traffic around the car.
