Drexel Students Recovering from Crash

Posted on January 29th, 2009 No Comments

Four of the six Drexel students who were involved in a crash on Sunday are recovering. The SUV they were in crashed along US Route 15 near Liberty, killing two of the students immediately.

Two of the students were released from the hospital on Tuesday and the other two have been upgraded from serious to fair condition. The cause of the crash seems to have been a rock cut.

Dozens Injured in Philadelphia High-Rise Fire

Posted on January 8th, 2009 1 Comment

A fire in a North Philadelphia apartment high-rise Wednesday left dozens of people injured, despite being quickly contained by firefighters.

The blaze, which may have been started by a smoldering cigarette, occurred in a building where residents had grown accustomed to false alarms set off by people smoking in the hallways. Officials did not confirm the exact cause of the fire, but said that the incident was under investigation.

Firefighters responding to the scene were able to bring the fire under control in under an hour due to the building's concrete construction. The majority of the building's residents were evacuated, but are expected to be allowed to return in short order.

Careless use or disposal of cigarettes sparks countless fires every year. If you or someone you love has been injured in a fire caused by another person's negligence, you may have grounds for a personal injury lawsuit.
