Fire Escape Collapse Kills One, Injures Another

A fire escape recently collapsed at an apartment that was located over a cafe.  The collapse resulted in the death of a 25 year-old man, and the critical injury of a woman.  

According to reports,  the two individuals were out on the fire escape when the bolts were pulled out of the wall.  The fire escape then gave way and collapsed,  causing serious injury.   It is estimated that the two individuals fell nearly 4 stories to the ground.  One of the individuals landed on an air conditioning unit before hitting the ground,  although officials did not say which individual landed on the unit.

The accident is currently under investigation.

Man Killed on Interstate 95

A New Jersey man was killed while in Linwood, Pennsylvania on Interstate 95. 

The man's vehicle had run out of fuel.  The man had managed to get a can of fuel from another individual and was attempting to cross the interstate to get back to his vehicle.  At this point,  the man was struck by a car.  The impact of the accident caused the fuel the man was holding to be ignited and cause a fire.  

The man that was struck by the vehicle died at the scene of the accident.  Emergency workers were called and it took several hours to investigate and clean-up the accident scene.

Police Looking for Driver After Hit and Run

Pennsylvania police are looking for the driver of a 2000 red Ford
Explorer after the man committed a hit and run on Friday night. 

According
to reports,  the driver of the Ford Explorer did not stop at a
stoplight.  Another car then collided with the explorer of the
intersection.   The driver of the explorer got out of the vehicle,
asked if the other individual involved in the accident was alright, and
then fled the scene of the accident without leaving any contact
information.  

Police are looking for the man currently and are asking anyone with information to contact law enforcement.

Hunter Setenced for Accident

A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to 18 weeks in prison following an accident that left another hunter without a leg.

The accident took place in October.  The hunter stated that he believed he was shooting at a bear,  but it was actually another hunter.  The other hunter was sitting on a tree stump using a moose call at the time of the accident.  The man who was shot eventually lost his leg from the accident because it had to be amputated. 

The man that was sentenced to jail will serve 18 months and must be nearly $60,000 to help cover medical costs.

One Killed, Another Injured by Distracted Driver

A Philadelphia suburb was the scene of a horrible accident in which a distracted driver struck two pedestrians,  killing one and seriously injuring the other.

The accident took place as the pedestrians were walking out of a hospital together.   The driver of the vehicle was apparently distracted by an Ipod moments before the accident.  

The driver of the vehicle has not yet had any charges placed against her.  The accident is still under investigation so charges could come in the future. More information should be released at a later date.

Bank Executive Dies in Accident

A Philadelphia bank executive has died after falling from a moving golf car.  The accident is being described as a 'freak' accident and very rare to happen. 

According to reports,  the man was reaching for his cell phone when he fell from a moving golf cart.   The man suffered a traumatic brain injury in the fall.  The man had to be airlifted to a hospital where he received treatment.  While at the hospital,  the man died from his injuries.

The man was taking part in a charity golf event at the time of the accident.  Friends and co-workers expressed shock at his passing.

Tree Brach Kills Woman in Park

Over the weekend,  a Philadelphia woman was killed in an accident while walking in the park.  Police have stated that the incident was a freak accident and very uncommon.

The woman was walking in the park, when a 30 foot branch fell off a tree over 50 feet in the air.  The woman likely did not hear the branch falling as she was wearing a MP3 player.  

Police state that the woman was killed instantly in the accident.  A similar event occurred recently in  a Manhattan park where a man was put in a coma from a tree branch falling.

Girfriend of Hit-and-Run Victim Asks Driver to Turn Self In

The girlfriend to a man who was struck and killed on July 25th is asking the individual to turn himself in. The woman stated that it was a horrible accident and she feels bad for the person who hit them. 

It is currently unknown why the driver fled the scene of the accident.  Alcohol or drugs may be one of the reasons for fleeing the scene. 

Police are asking anyone with information about the accident to come forward.  They have stated that the suspect in the incident was the driver of a Jeep Wrangler and is about 5 foot 6 inches tall.  Police state that the vehicle involved in the accident should have damage on the front side from striking the victim.

3 Police Officers Injured in Accident

Three police officers have been injured in a accident in North Philadelphia after colliding with each other.  Two separate police cars were involved in the accident.  Both were responding to a drug arrest that was occurring. 

The impact knocked one officer out and caused bleeding.  Witnesses to the accident responded and attempted to help the officers until emergency personnel arrived.  

The officers were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.  The officers are expected to be fine but are recovering from the accident. The accident is currently under investigation.
