Two AmeriCold employees were rushed to the hospital Monday morning after being trapped by machinery.

According to officials with the Manchester Police Department, a 1,000 pound dock plate trapped a worker at the East Manchester Township shipping and refrigeration company shortly after 3:10 a.m. A second worker was injured as he attempted to free the trapped employee.

Company officials explained a dock plate as “an adjustable metal ramp used to bridge the gap created between a truck and the floors of the dock when a truck had backed up for loading at the loading dock.”

Emergency response crews rushed the two men to an area hospital for treatment. One worker is listed in critical condition. The other man was treated and released.

The identities of the two men have not been released.
