1 killed, 2 injured in accident on Schuylkill Expressway

Last Friday, a fatal accident occurred in the westbound lanes of Interstate 76, also known as the Schuylkill Expressway.  The highway was closed at I-476 for several hours after the car accident.

The accident happened between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. near the new exit ramps that connect the westbound lanes of the interstate to South Gulph Mills Road and South Henderson.

Two cars and a tractor-trailer collided in the accident.  Reports do not indicate how the accident occurred, only that the semi-truck was pushed into the median and one of the cars was stopped on the highway’s shoulder.

Two people involved in the accident were taken to hospitals for treatment of unspecified injuries.  One person was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

2 killed, 1 injured in truck accident on Route 130

Early this morning, 2 people were killed and 1 was injured in a devastating automobile accident in Bordentown Township, New Jersey on Route 130.  The accident involved an 18-wheeler and a limousine, which was carrying an elderly couple en route to Philadelphia International Airport.

The Lincoln Town Car the couple was traveling in was struck by the tractor-trailer at about 3:40 this morning, according to police.  The truck was backing out of a construction site when it collided with the limousine.  The limo was struck by the truck’s right-side rear wheels and became wedged to the trailer.

A 68-year old woman in the limo was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.  Her husband, 71, was taken to the hospital and passed away during an emergency surgery.  The limo’s driver, 24, was taken to the hospital and treated for a broken hand and arm.

5-vehicle accident on I-84 injures 5

Yesterday afternoon, an automobile accident occurred on Interstate 84 in Westfall, Pennsylvania involving 3 vehicles and 2 tractor-trailers.  According to Pennsylvania State Police reports, the accident happened at around 2:30 P.M. between the Milford and Matamoras exits.

Police believe the accident was caused by one of the tractor-trailers in the eastbound lanes of I-84.  The semi-truck was reported to have hit a minivan before over-correcting to the left and striking a BMW.  The BMW struck the other tractor-trailer, which was pushed into a fifth vehicle.

A male and female in the van were flown to Community Medical Center in Scranton for treatment of unspecified injuries.  Another male driver and female passenger in the BMW were flown to a different hospital.  Lastly, the driver of the fifth vehicle was taken in an ambulance to a hospital in New York.  Neither drivers of the semi-trucks were injured.
