BMW issues international recall
Posted on Monday, April 2nd, 2012 at 3:57 pm
An international recall has been issued by German automaker, BMW, and affects 367,000 cars in the United States. The recall affects 1.3 million vehicles in total.
The recall comes after a problem with battery wiring was detected by several owners. The 5-and 6-Series vehicles manufactured between 2004 and 2010 are included in the recall. Owners of these defective models have been advised to discontinue use until they can have the problem fixed.
The problem is associated with connector cables and a battery located in the trunk of the vehicles. In some instances, the wiring could have been improperly completed, causing the cables to potentially overheat and spark fires. No injuries have currently been reported in regards to the recall.

Two weeks ago, Honda announced the expansion of their recall of vehicles with the potential for airbag defects by 273,000 vehicles. Initially, Honda recalled 603,000 vehicles.
The recall involves mostly older model vehicles. Models include Civics, Accords, CRVs, Odysseys, Pilots, and Acuras. Honda has asked all of its dealers to stop selling models included on the recall list until they are tested for the airbag defect.
Investigators have found that some Honda vehicles use too much pressure to inflate the airbag, sending pieces of metal and plastic around the airbag into the air and at drivers and passengers. Honda has received reports of 12 injuries and at least 1 death related to the automobile defect.
