A Philadelphia woman is being charged with driving under the influence a year after the accident occurred.  In addition, police have charged the woman with fleeing the scene of a fatal accident.

In Philadelphia last year, there were 547 hit-and-run accidents.  14 of these accidents resulted in fatalities.  The 38-year old woman charged with DUI is suspected of being involved in a fatal hit-and-run at 2nd Street and Erie Avenue.

Police were not able to identify the woman as a suspect until several months after the case when a 15-year old told police she was in the suspect’s vehicle the night of the accident.

The teen told officers that the woman had 7 and a half beers the night of the accident.  This amount of alcohol would have most likely put her over the legal limit blood alcohol limit of .08 percent.
