3 workers injured falling from scaffolding

Posted on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011 at 2:07 pm

Monday morning, 3 construction workers were injured when they fell from scaffolding attached to a building that partially collapsed.

The accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. on 15th Street in South Philadelphia.  The 3 workers were working on repairing a 3-story rowhouse.  Investigators are unsure if the wall of the building collapsed first or if the scaffolding collapsed first.

A 40-year old construction worker was taken to Jefferson University Hospital in serious condition.  He was reported to have suffered back, neck, and head injuries.  The two other workers, ages 41 and 28, were also taken to nearby hospitals for minor injuries.

The accident was the 4th building collapse construction accident in Philadelphia in a week.
