Lead exposures costs Pennsylvania company $54,600 in fines

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, OSHA, has fined a Pennsylvania refractory company over $54,000 in fines pertaining to work hazards.
Two of the company’s locations were tested for levels of lead after a request to investigate was given to OSHA by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. This request came after a man who worked for the company, Refractory Installation and Construction Headquarters Inc., had an elevated amount of lead in his blood.
Overall, the company received 11 different fines dealing with the toxic levels of lead employees were exposed to at both locations. The company owes $54,600 for the lead exposure problems.
