300,000 Build-A-Bear teddy bears recalled

Posted on Friday, December 30th, 2011 at 4:26 pm

Nearly 300,000 “Colorful Hearts Teddy Bears” are being recalled, the company announced last week. The teddy bear was sold online and in stores throughout the United States and Canada from April to December of this year.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the beaded eyes could become loose and fall out, creating a choking hazard for young children. No injuries have been reported due to the recall.

The “Colorful Hearts Teddy Bears” are white with different shapes of multicolored hearts. Customers who have purchased the teddy bear can return it to any Build-A-Bear store location in exchange for a coupon on any stuffed animal.

Children’s toy blocks and wagons recalled

Today, Mattel and Fischer Price issued a recall of one of their children’s toy wagon and building blocks products.  The Little People Builders’ Load ‘n Go Wagon was imported by Fischer from Mexico and sold at retail stores across the country from June 2009 to July 2011.

The recalled product includes a toy children’s red wagon with a yellow handle, a plastic toy dog, and multi-colored plastic building blocks.  The product was found to be dangerous and defective because the wagon’s yellow plastic handle is a laceration hazard.

The toy manufacturer has received 7 injury reports about the recalled product.  5 of the reports involved children needing stitches or surgical glue.
