Injury Leave - Injured on Duty (IOD) Benefits

An employee who is injured on the job and disabled as a result of the injury is eligible for Injury on Duty (IOD) benefits. Under the City's disability program (Regulation 32), he will receive 75 % of base pay after taxes in lieu of Worker's Compensation, and he may continue to earn sick time while recuperating from his injury.

To qualify for coverage under the City IOD plan, an employee must immediately report an injury to their immediate supervisor, and agree to be treated at an authorized health care provider.  Treatment must occur within 24 hours of injury.

Employees must receive a referral for evaluation from their supervisor and treat at one of the designated City of Philadelphia provider sites. The zip code of the facility/location where the work accident occurred determines the hospital or medical office that will treat the employee.
