Philadelphia Paralysis Lawyers

Spinal cord injuries are almost always serious, with even the most minor-seeming injury having the potential for devastating consequences. One of the most severe consequences that can occur as a result of a spinal cord injury is paralysis: the complete or partial loss of the ability to consciously move one’s body. Paralysis may or may not result in the inability to feel pain or other sensations in the affected limbs.

If you or a loved one has been affected by paralysis or other similar conditions as a result of a spinal cord injury, contact the Philadelphia paralysis lawyers of Lowenthal & Abrams, P.C. at 215-238-1130, and we will fight to hold those responsible for your injuries accountable for their actions.

Types of Paralysis

There are multiple types of paralysis that can occur in a spinal cord injury victim, the two main types of which are:

  • Paraplegia. Typically resulting from an injury below the first thoracic nerve, paraplegia typically involves full paralysis from the legs down, although victims will have full use of their arms and hands.
  • Quadriplegia. Injuries above the first thoracic nerve typically results in the paralysis of all four limbs, and may also cause the chest and heart to work ineffectively.
